The word 'charity' usually makes us think about loud fundraising parties, people with Red Cross T-shirts asking for our money, 'help the tsunami survivors' ads and, eventually, the look on the others' faces when you don't donate. However, thanks to sponsors paying for every visitor that sees their banner, non-profit websites are now able to donate to 'noble causes' without making you pay. It's easy - you come, you click, you see a few banners with the corner of your eye and for that, they sponsors pay. Going once to one of these websites might not make a huge difference, but going every few days and spreading the word will do the trick. Most of these websites only allow you to click-to-donate once a day. These are a few of the famous 'click for a free donation' websites. They only take a few minutes, are membership-free and don't cost you one cent! Care2's Races - Follow the links on the top of the page for the Race for the Rainforest, Seals, Oceans, Big Cats and so on. Registering for free email, greeting cards, forums, progress tracking and so on are optional. The Hunger Site - You can click once a day and follow the links to related sites (Animal Rescue Site, Rainforest Site, etc.). Ecology Fund - A less organized Care2. It also provides a large number of options, from reducing pollution to protecting endangered animals. Free Donation - The only website I know to accept more than one click per day. I don't expect you'll click all day, but I thought I should warn you anyway. I would add more, but I honestly don't think anyone would spend hours donating to the poor and the speechless, when video games are so much more thrilling. You'll have to go to the Free Donation Directory if kindness ever strikes and my list isn't enough. There's one thing you need to remember: the more often you go, the more you help. As Kofi Anan said, "There are no more excuses... you can now make a difference, with the click of a mouse". |
